Power supply design for draglines and electric shovels, covering trailing cable systems, transportable substation interfaces, and distribution infrastructure. The electrical demands of large mobile mining equipment are well understood — voltage regulation, cable thermal management, and fault protection all need to be right from the outset.
Protection Engineering & Coordination Studies
Protection coordination studies and scheme design for mining and industrial power networks, including fault level analysis, relay setting calculations, and protection system reviews. The goal is selective, reliable fault clearance that meets network operator requirements and keeps operations running.

Earthing System Design & Calculations
Earthing system design and assessment to AS/NZS and IEEE standards, covering step and touch potential analysis, earth grid design, and system evaluation. We work on both new installations and existing sites where a system review or upgrade is needed.
Lightning Protection Studies & Design
Lightning risk assessments and protection system design in accordance with AS/NZS 1768. We evaluate strike risk and design protection appropriate to the asset and site conditions — practical outcomes, not over-engineered solutions.
Cable Sizing & Selection
Cable sizing calculations to AS/NZS 3008, covering current carrying capacity, voltage drop, short circuit withstand, and earth fault loop impedance. Outputs include detailed cable schedules and specifications ready for procurement and construction.
Solar & Renewable Energy Assessments
Technical assessments for solar PV and renewable energy integration in mining and industrial settings — covering grid connection studies, power quality analysis, and compatibility with existing electrical infrastructure.
Arc Flash Hazard Assessments
Arc flash hazard assessments to IEEE 1584, covering incident energy calculations, arc flash boundary determination, PPE category recommendations, and equipment labelling. For enclosed switchgear and switchboards, we also consider arc blast pressure rise and venting — the thermal hazard is only part of the picture inside a panel. Where incident energy levels are unacceptable, we develop practical mitigation strategies — including protection system modifications — to reduce risk at the point of work.
Electrical System Audits & Recommendations
Audits of electrical systems and installations against relevant standards and industry best practice — including AS/NZS 3000, equipment-specific standards, and sector requirements for mining and heavy industry. We review documentation, inspect installed systems, and assess against both regulatory obligations and operational risk.
